Seafood Harvest

We had dinner at Seafood Harvest where we ordered two huge platters of seafood and some soup for starters.

We had dinner at Crab Shack, a restaurant situated along a row of shophouses in Thomson. As you can tell from the restaurant name, Crab Shack specializes in flower crabs, served in a shiny metal bucket. They also serve spaghetti and calamari.

Lost Dog

I took a picture of this poster just outside Thomson Community Club. Rossy is kinda cute isn't she? She looks like a medium breed fox terrier to me. She also has a microchip implant, better known as Radio Frequency Identification. Let's hope the dog finds her owner, or the owner finds the dog, or somebody finds the dog for the owner. Let's hope the dog returns to her owner. Has she been found yet? A silent plea for help.

Perth University

Hang on a second. Picture this for a moment. Just imagine if the four public universities in Perth merged together. UWA has medicine, dentistry, podiatric medicine, engineering, UWABS, fine arts, music and law; Curtin has pharmacy, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, CBS, and fine arts (advertising, photography); Murdoch has veterinary science, biomedical science, chiropractic science and radio; and ECU has performing arts (WAAPA) and sports science. The University of Perth would be the largest university in Australia, even larger than Monash. As you know, Monash has six campuses in Australia, namely Clayton, Caulfield, Berwick, Peninsula, Gippsland, and Parkville. You do the math.

UWA + CUT + MURDOU + ECU = PERU

A simple equation nevertheless, but a four way merger is just a fantasy. In December 2005, the Curtin Murdoch merger proposal failed to proceed because "a merger could be beneficial but it would also be a highly complex and expensive process with no guarantee of success". Apparently, a feasibility study was conducted but a merger was found to be not technically feasible and economically feasible. If a two way merger could not proceed, how can a four way merger?

Well, no harm dreaming right? Who's knows in the not too distant future, the University of Perth would not be a dream, it would be a reality.
